Founded more than a century ago, Hickey Freeman has been making suits in their 77,000 square foot Rochester, New York “Temple” since the early 1900s. Through the decades, this well respected high-end men’s apparel maker has fit celebrities, business tycoons and many a Western New Yorker with their signature line. How many Monroe County residents wait for one of Hickey Freeman’s periodic “warehouse” sales before selecting their tailored clothing?

New York City based “style-blogger” Michael Williams takes us on a factory tour in his post “Made in Rochester: Hickey Freeman” (A Continuous Lean, February 2, 2011). Williams offers more than a hundred well framed pictures showing almost all aspects of the manufacturer. He also includes a short write-up about the company. If you’d like to see some vintage Hickey Freeman photographs, go directly to the company’s About Page.
